I’ve been a huge fan of the makeup artist and YouTube personality, Wayne Goss, for many years now. He recently announced the release of his own brand of makeup brushes on his makeup channel and chat channel. From his subscriber base alone (over 1 million people) they are guaranteed to be a sold-out hit. Wayne Goss has made many guarantees about his brushes. He promises a complete cruelty free production, affordability, hand-made, stylish design, and of course the highest quality available. Adding all these things together is the formula for quite a dynamic impact on the makeup brush market.  Most of the makeup brushes sold on the market today are cheaply made Chinese productions with no focus on quality. Not to mention the huge effect on animal welfare! I see many brands, cough…Sigma…cough…mimicing the “Goss” style in the future.

False Eyelash Haul!

Have you ever been to the Party City store just for false lashes? They have some of the best drag queen – style lashes. I wear them for Mardi Gras parades and other festivals we have here in Louisiana. Anyway, I brought my girls shopping today and we went a little false eyelash crazy. Statement Accessories

ASOS is one of my favorite stores for unique statement accessories and fun clothing! They have cheap, quality made items for every style imaginable. I was online shopping last night and found these gorgeous pieces that I must buy immediately!

The first piece is out of my price range for now, but in a few months time I may be able to have this beauty in my grasp. It must be the makeup artist in me because I love anything with a red, lacquered lip!

Back to School Makeup

When the time is right, teens will begin getting interested in makeup. I blame this on the inevitable interest in boys. So, when my daughter came to me and asked if she could wear makeup to school, I picked out 10 back to school makeup essentials from my makeup collection.

The first items are for the complexion. I chose:

• Tinted Moisturizer – I have Dior Hydra Life Pro-Youth but any drugstore brand will do.
• Revlon Photoready Cream Blush in #200 Flushed – Perfect, natural pink blush color
• No7 High Lights Illuminating Lotion – cheekbone highlight for healthy glow

• Real Techniques Expert Face Brush – the most perfect brush on the planet

For the eyes I chose:

• Maybelline Color Tattoo in #55 Inked in Pink – these are great for all-day wear

Neon Makeup

Anytime I see neon on nails, clothes, shoes, or accessories it’s like electricity for my eyeballs. I LOVE the explosive UV light of neon. I started playing with neon makeup colors in my Coastal Scents palette after seeing this picture (above) and came up with a neon makeup eye look that reminded me of 80’s “Girl’s Just Wanna Have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper, which in my opinion is the reigning queen of that era.

This is what I used:

• Coastal Scents 88 Color Eyeshadow Palette
• Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Mascara in Ultra Black
• MAC Eye Kohl in Smoulder
• Physician’s Formula Eye Booster in Ultra Black
• Salon Perfect Perfectly Gorgeous #28

I started by applying a primer all over the eye, under the eye, and extending it all the way to my hair-line. It makes the color more vibrant and keeps it in place. I then packed the lid with the brightest neon in the palette. I applied it to my under eye and dragged it to my hair-line.

I then added the black eyeshadow to the lash line, sweeping it up. This black is 10x better than MAC’s Carbon black eyeshadow! I covered with the Physician’s Formula liquid liner, coated my mascara, then lined my upper and lower water line with MAC Smoulder. I applied false lashes, put on my neon ASOS dress and was out the door!

Eyeshadow for Green Eyes with Swatches

I love wearing eyeshadow colors that makes my eyes POP! The trick is to find an eyeshadow that is the opposite of your eye color on the color wheel! I borrowed this image from Google 😉 so disregard the triangles in the center.

So, green eyes would stand out using oranges, reds, and purples. I have hazel eyes (which is a combination of greens, browns, and blues). I use MAC eyeshadow shades like Folie, Swiss Chocolate, Cranberry, Sketch, and Nocturnelle.

Cream shadows are perfect for quick and easy application or for use as an eyeshadow base. Here are few for green eyes. I use Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in 86 Ebloui, Maybelline Color Tattoo in Pomegranate Punk, and Make Up For Ever Aqua Color in shade 14

Here are some cheap drugstore eyeshadow alternatives if you don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on makeup. The left side eyeshadow pot is Milani Baked Eyeshadow in #602 I Heart You, Wet n’ Wild Palette in Petal Pusher (not crazy about but it’s decent), and then on the bottom is Maybelline Eyestudio in #100 Cozy Cashmere. This one was a limited edition but it can be found on Ebay or Amazon. The one on Amazon is outrageously expensive, so I would search Ebay for the best deal.
